The 11th European Conference on

Precision Livestock Farming

Since 2003, the ECPLF conference is the flagship event which brings together scientists, professionals, companies, farmers, policy makers and associations interested in the Precision Livestock Farming world.

It’s the place to be for staying in touch with the entire PLF community and to discover state of the art research and groundbreaking innovation experiences.
The multidisciplinary approaches and cross-sectoral contributions are the ideal platform for sharing research results, being inspired by international experiences, seeing industrial innovations and networking, to unlock the potential of PLF for food safety, environment and society.

PLF (Precision Livestock Farming)

Precision Livestock Farming is the concept of creating smart animal farming by using sensors and information technology for monitoring animal health, welfare and production and reducing the environmental impact. PLF is a tool that supports the skills and management decisions of the farmers, veterinarians, experts and authorities based upon the continuous and automated collection of livestock information.

The continuous monitoring of animals, using PLF technologies in real-time, where each animal acts as its own control, is a novel approach not only in livestock and emerging species farming, but also in companion animals and wildlife monitoring, for their health and wellbeing. The integrated analyses of “smart data” from individual animals and their environments opens new avenues for the early detection and prevention of diseases, increased animal welfare and traceability of production, improved sustainability and farm economics, at the same time pursuing environmental protection and biodiversity enhancement, supporting a new societal awareness.

ECPLF 2024 for the

PLF-Welfare-Sustainability nexus

The focus of the 11th ECPLF is the PLF-Welfare-Sustainability nexus. The contribution of precision animal management to animal welfare, food safety and environmental protection, together with knowledge transfer across the PLF community, are the key features of the PLF hub connecting research institutions, professionals, companies, policy makers and the society.

The conference welcomes contributions spanning all animal species and their relation with humans, all contexts, aiming to mainstream applications and benefits of PLF in both business activities and in people’s daily life.
